MANUFACTURING
Immigration and workforce support for New Zealand manufacturers
Production engineers, machine operators, food technologists, machinery installers, the specialist skills your plant needs aren't always available locally, and the people you've already trained are worth keeping.
New Zealand manufacturing runs on specialist skills that aren't always available locally. Production engineers, machine operators, food technologists, quality specialists, machinery installers and servicers, when you can't hire locally, you need to be able to hire from offshore quickly and compliantly.
You also need to keep the people you’ve already hired. A trained, settled, experienced migrant operator who’s been with you for two years is worth far more than the disruption of starting again with a new visa application every time someone hits the end of their AEWV.
What we help manufacturers with
Five areas we work on most with manufacturing employers
Accreditation and AEWVs for production and technical staff
Including hiring at ANZSCO skill levels 4 and 5, with the longer advertising and MSD engagement requirements those levels involve.
Specific Purpose Work Visas for machinery installers and servicers
We work with manufacturers all around the country who need overseas specialists in for work during the year or during plant shutdowns. We know how Immigration NZ views these applications, and what they need to see in support.
Workforce planning for visa-cycle cliffs
If you hired heavily from offshore in the last few years, you may be looking at a wave of AEWV expiries. We'll help you map the cycle and plan whether your team's path is renewal, residence, or replacement.
Residence pathways for your skilled staff
Skilled Migrant Category, Trades and Technicians pathway, Skilled Work Experience pathway, Green List roles. We'll help you understand which of your staff can go on which pathway, and what needs to be true for the application to succeed.
Family visas for the staff you want to keep
Partnership Work Visas for partners, Dependent Child Student Visas, eventual Residence applications, handled efficiently and at flexible payment terms for staff of our long-term employer clients if they're paying for the visa applications themselves.
A specialist New Zealand manufacturer with around 25 staff, and no in-house HR support, needed to retain a graduate on a Post Study Work Visa in a key technical role. The problem: his job description read as a basic Machine Operator role, the same as everyone else's, which would only qualify for a three-year visa with no path to residence.
We sat down with the owner and the employee and worked through what the role actually involved. Drawing on our background in engineering and manufacturing, we translated that into an accurate, detailed position description reflecting the genuinely skilled, niche nature of the work.
The role qualified for a long-term visa and residence. A happy employer, and a skilled employee who's now a long-term, key member of the team.

Whether it's one hire or your whole production line, we'll tell you exactly what's next.
